He studied from Julien Day School and graduated in economics from Heramba Chandra College. He is married to Nilanjana Sengupta and has two children. He started from the television series Mahaprabhu and from there he gained the popularity. His film career started from Priyojon and he also directed a television series Aparajita. He used to play cricket and was the captain of Bengal Tiger.
